The work to redecorate after the water damage we had in June is in full swing and the disruption to the house is here to be seen. We fortunately have the space to clear the affected rooms but it has meant that any Christmas decorations or the installation of a tree have been put on hold. To cap this yesterday we had water flooding into the basement from the outside and it didn't help that I was up in Edinburgh for the day. To cut a long story short the main sewer in the garden was blocked and somehow the water was escaping from our sewer connecting pipes into the house. All was well once the sewer was unblocked but we are left with a messy clean up and investigations by the insurance company into what is wrong with our drains, let alone why it got through the wall.
