The Pontllanfraith club celebrated a wonderful evening reflecting on 25 years of service to their local and overseas communities today. President Bob and his team put on a superb event and the Maes Manor came up trumps again with excellent victuals. Founder member Alan gave a brief but nevertheless thorough overview of the club's activities during the past 25 years and Foundation Trustee David was the main speaker. Three young ladies from a local school provided a musical interlude of quality and style.
There were some unfortunate out of context quotes overheard:
'Get the sweets out and then bring on the girls'
'Remove our jackets and then bring on the girls'
'I have already taken a whip to my AGs'
'What time of the month would that be?'
No names but these are all genuine unprompted quotes. Be assured that there was nothing sinister but it appealed to my slightly warped sense of humour.
