23rd April - Abercarn & Newbridge 50th Anniversary Concert

Tonight we were guests at the Cwmcarn High School for a very special anniversary concert, staged by the very talented  pupils of the school, as their contribution to the Abercarn and Newbridge club's 50th anniversary celebrations. President Len and members of the club, together with the Mayor of Islwyn BC and the High Sheriff of Gwent were there to join a good sized audience in a purpose built performance hall. The pupils showed off their talent instrumentally and vocally with a rich mix of pieces. The highpoint was a specially commissioned orchestral composition entitled Kite Fayre, composed by a pupil who completed his A levels last year, and dedicated to the service provided by the Abercarn and Newbridge club over its 50 years. The Head must feel very proud of the talent that there is in the school and the staff are to be congratulated as well, along with the performers, in the preparations they must have gone through.
